How does an electric bike work?: All of the electric bikes that we sell are pedal assisted bikes, this means the motor is activated by pedalling the bike, and the battery gives constant energy to the motor. These are the only type of electric bike permitted by UK law.
What is the range of an electric bike?: On average, E-bikes can travel between 20-75 miles, but the exact distance will be influenced by multiple factors such as the power mode, riding environment, weight capacity, and landscape. How fast can an electric bike go?: An electric bike in the UK can assist the riders up to 15.5 mph. Beyond this the bike relies on the riders pedalling power.
Are electric bikes legal to ride on roads and bike paths?: You can ride an electric bike on cycle paths and anywhere else pedal bikes are allowed.
Can I ride an electric bike in rainy or wet conditions?: Yes, you can ride in the rain and wet conditions as the electrical components are sealed. Riding through puddles, in the rain and washing your E-bike are all perfectly safe.
How long does it take to charge an electric bike battery?: It would typically take around 3.5-6 hours depending on the capacity of the battery.
Do electric bikes require any special maintenance?: Because E-bikes are heavier, and people tend to ride them faster and over longer distances, wear to components will need to be monitored more frequently than you normally would on a mechanical bike.
Can I ride an electric bike if I'm not very fit?: Absolutely, in fact general studies has shown that with an electric bike you are more likely to cycle frequently and further as you feel more energised on your ride. Hills would become much more of a joy rather than a pain.
Are there different levels of pedal assistance on electric bikes?: Most e-bikes offer multiple levels of assistance, which are normally low, medium and high.
How do I choose the right size electric bike for me?: You will need - your height and inside leg measurements, speak with us and we will be able to help you, all brands vary slightly.
Can I still pedal an electric bike without using the motor?: You can simply turn off the motor whenever you want. The choice is 100% yours. Riding without the motor is just like riding a normal non-electric bike.
Are electric bikes suitable for long-distance rides?: Yes, long-range e-bikes are well-suited for hilly and challenging terrains. Their electric motor assistance can make climbing steep hills much more accessible, allowing riders to tackle various terrains with less effort. Can I remove the battery from an electric bike for charging?: Yes, the battery can be charged on, or off of the bike.

City Bikes FAQ

Are city bikes suitable for daily commuting?: Any bike can be used to commute if you choose to.
Are city bikes easy to maintain?: City bikes often have internal hub gears, so they're easy to maintain. There's also less wear on parts like gears and chains because they don't shift as much as traditional road or mountain bikes do.
Are city bikes suitable for carrying shopping bags or other cargo?: If you will use the bike for trips in the city where you will need to carry quite some weight, opt for a bike with a sturdy frame and a rack or basket. This will work great for carrying your shopping. Additionally, consider adding panniers, saddlebags, or a front basket for additional storage space.
How do I choose the right size city bike?: Typically, it varies on brand, we can help, we will need to know your height and inside leg measurement.
Can I attach accessories like racks and fenders to a city bike?: The detachable style mudguards can be mounted on any bicycle. To install a full length mudguard you must check whether or not your bike has eyelets or mounting points.
Are city bikes suitable for riding in urban environments with traffic?: City bikes are also referred to as commuter bikes, as they are able to handle any terrain, from city streets to off-road trails. They're perfect for both long and short rides, and can be outfitted with racks, panniers, lights, and any other accessories you may need for the city.

Road Bike FAQ

What makes a road bike different from other types of bikes?: A road bike's geometry tends to be more aggressive and aerodynamic. The bike achieves this by placing key points (handlebars and pedals) in a position that will result in either more comfort or more speed.
Are road bikes suitable for beginners?: While we're big fans of all types of bikes, we're specifically talking about bikes suitable for the road. This is the most common and accessible form of cycling for beginners, and the bikes are designed to help you navigate paved bike paths and city streets. Gravel bikes are another great option for beginners as can be ridden both on road and light off road and offer more confidence to the rider due to the more relaxed geometry and wider tyre sizes.
How do I choose the right size road bike?: Measure your height as well as leg inseam for a more accurate size recommendation - we will help you with this.
Can I use a road bike for commuting?: Your performance road bike can easily double as a commuter bike without much alteration. In either case, comfort should be a priority. Beyond getting a professional bike fit to determine your ideal setup, you can make your own adjustments to be more comfortable on your commute.
Can I upgrade components on a road bike?: Most standard road bikes will come with alloy handlebars, but if you're looking to save weight on your bike, then upgrading to a carbon set will undoubtedly make a difference. Thanks to the stiffness properties of the material, carbon handlebars can be really efficient too. The same also applies to the stem.

Mountain Bikes (Full Suspension) FAQ

What is full suspension on a mountain bike?: Like the name suggests, full suspension mountain bikes have both front and rear suspension, they can also be known as dual suspension mountain bikes. The addition of a rear shock makes these bikes more efficient and comfier to ride on difficult off-road terrain.
How do I choose the right size full suspension mountain bike?: Typically, it varies on brand, we can help, we will need to know your height and inside leg measurement.
What types of terrain are full suspension mountain bikes best suited for?: Full-Suspension bikes absorb more impacts from rocks, roots, bumps and jumps that you will inevitably encounter on an off-road ride.
Are there specific maintenance requirements for full suspension mountain bikes?: Be sure to wipe the stanchions and around the seals of the shock and fork regularly. Check for oil deposits or any nicks on the stanchions. If you spot any problems or are unsure, bring the bike in for us to inspect. Clean components work better and last much longer. *What are stanchions? For those who don't know stanchions are the smooth tubes connected to your fork crown. They are mainly stationary while the lower legs of the fork move up and down over them.
How does full suspension improve the riding experience?: Bike suspension provides improved control, traction and comfort on roots, rocky singletrack or potholed roads. It is one of many factors that contribute to your riding enjoyment
Can I adjust the suspension settings on a full suspension mountain bike?: If you require less sag simply add air to the shock, if you require more sag lower the air pressure. Many front and rear shock absorbers will also have multiple stiffness and rebound settings.

Mountain Bikes (Hardtail) FAQ

What is a hardtail mountain bike?: One of the biggest benefits of a hardtail mountain bike is its climbing ability. The lack of rear suspension means that all of your pedaling power is transferred directly to the rear wheel, making it easier to climb hills and mountains.
Can I perform tricks and jumps on a hardtail mountain bike?: Mountain bikes are primarily designed for off-road riding on rough terrain.
How does a hardtail mountain bike differ from a full suspension bike?: Hardtail mountain bikes do not feature a rear shock, whereas full suspension bikes feature front and rear shocks.

Delivery FAQ

How long does it take for my bike to be delivered?: Most bikes are delivered within 2-3 days of ordering if the bike we have is physically in stock. If it is a bike that needs ordering from the manufacturer then it will approx 5-6 days. Once it's received and PDI checked by our fully qualified mechanics it will be a next day delivery (week days)
Do you offer international shipping for your bikes?: Unfortunately, currently not at the moment. It is UK mainland shipping only.
Can I track my bike shipment online?: Yes, upon despatch you will receive all relevant tracking information via text / email from DPD.
Can I have my bike delivered to a different address than my billing address?: Yes, once you have your tracking number you can liaise with DPD direct for your delivery. Or you can chose a delivery address in the checkout.
What shipping carriers do you use for bike deliveries?: We use DPD for bike deliveries.
Will I need to be present to sign for the delivery of my bike?: Yes, all deliveries will need to be signed for. If you aren't going to be at home that is not an issue, we can ship to your work address, neighbour, relative.
Are there any additional shipping charges for remote or difficult-to-reach areas?: There are additional charges for Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland and Scottish Highlands.
What should I do if there are any delays with my bike delivery?: Give us a call and we will do our best to correspond with DPD for further information of your delivery.
Can I schedule a specific delivery time for my bike?: Once you have received your tracking number , you can directly request a slot with DPD, this is out of our control so please bear this in mind.
